On the 11th of July 2008 the announcing of the winners of the Contest of small projects took place in the office of Creative Union "Technologeis of Optimum Personality Development". The contest was announced in the framework of the Grant program "Small projects on support of big initiatives". Experts of the Independent grant commission and participants of the contest took part in the event.
This year representatives of NGOs and initiative groups of Kirovohrad region who applied projects for the contest of small grants were supposed to prove in public the actuality of their initiatives and their capability to realize them. This year, 12 project proposals were given for consideration by the Independent grant commission, therefore the inner contest among the applications was 1:3. That's why after the first stage of evaluation 8 projects were selected, the heads of these projects were offered to defend their initiative in public on the 2nd stage. The 2nd stage allowed the experts to define the winners. Independent grant commission, which included 3 authority representatives, 2 business representatives, and 2 community representatives, supported 5 most interesting projects applied to TORO and gave for their realization 20000 hryvna. The projects-winners were:
ü Project "Games of Ukrainian patriots", applied by the municipal center of strategic planning and marketing research and aimed at involving Svitlovodsk residents to healthy lifestyle with the help of sport competitions, based on national customs (Svitlovodsk).
ü Project "Youth European center" applied by the initiative group, aimed at creating European youth center in Novoukrainka district in order to form positive attitude of students towards European Union (Novoukrainka).
ü Project "Organization of cooperatives in rural area on production of milk", applied by the initiative group, aimed at increasing competitiveness of rural communities through creating milk-commodity cooperatives (Novoukrainka).
ü Project "Increasing level of information of people who have HIV in Kirovohrad and the region as for their rights and opportunity of getting services", applied by "Vidkryte serce" organization, aimed at giving help to people, who have HIV (Kirovohrad).
ü Project "Safety of Traffic - Care of everyone", applied by the initiative group and aimed at increasing level of knowledge of children as for traffic rules and safe conduct at road (Kompaniyivka).
In the framework of grant program "Small projects on support of big initiatives" Creative Union "Technologeis of Optimum Personality Development" supports social-oriented initiatives of NGOs and initiative groups of Kirovohrad region. Grant program is administered by TORO in the framework of the program of Stephan Batoriya Fund (Republik of Poland) "Public innitiatives in Eastern Europe" (funded by Ford Fund).
