It's hard to find a person nowadays who hasn't felt the results of the financial economic crisis. The crisis is being spoken about not only in public transport or at the market, but also in the city council. That's the place, where on the New Year's Eve, on the 24th of December the representatives of the authorities, business and non-governmental organizations gathered together in order to find real ways of counter action to the ruining processes carried by the crisis. TORO presented its own ‘vaccine' at this event, which is able to provide anti crisis immunity to the local community. Its name is civilized charity.
It's not surprising that TORO, the organization, which has been providing the local community with the help in solving various social problems, became the initiator and the organizer of the gathering, dedicated to reviving charity. Based on the conclusions of TORO specialists, there is no other way in overcoming crisis, but for the movement for mutual help as a basis for establishing interpersonal relations among the members of the community and the revival of charity. It's not a secret that in the conditions of economic crisis and gradual shortage of budget funding of social programs the level of life of the vulnerable sections of population is becoming worse. It causes sharpening of a number of social problems, which are unable to be solved by any of the official organizations.
That's why, with the aim of decreasing possible results of the crisis on the life of average Kirovohrad people, TORO decided to initiate the creation of the first Community Fund in Kirovohrad. It is the establishment, which will accumulate local resources and direct them at solving the most up-to-date social problems of the local community. TORO activists are sure that any humanitarian aid, which comes to Ukraine, isn't able to form in Ukrainians the feeling of belonging, but the charity of the citizens themselves as the form of their participation in managing issues at local level can really influence the solution of social problems of the region.
Therefore, the Community Fund of Kirovohrad chose as its motto the revival of civilized charity and philanthropy in Kirovohrad region.
Of course it's difficult to speak about charity in the conditions of the crisis; it's even more difficult to practice it. As the Community Fund of Kirovohrad plans to introduce only effective technologies and the foremost experience, which has proved its effectiveness, TORO continues to attract to Kirovohrad the best national and foreign technologies in the sphere of philanthropy and fund-raising. So, on the 24th of December, on the invitation of the organization, Yakiv Rolagin, director of "Dobrota" fund came with a visit to Kirovohrad. In 2002 he was proclaimed as the best fund-raiser of the world, and in 2005 - of Central and Eastern Europe. Mr. Rolagin presented his own master class "Development of civilized charity - our response to the economic crisis!"
During his presentation Yakiv shared the experience of work of the Fund, in particular the approaches, which allowed the Fund to attract funding in the amount of 20 million hryvna just from the local sources as the support of social programs. The participants of the event got acquainted with the positive experience of ensuring sustainable success in socially-useful issues, which ensures the introduction into the activity of citizens' unions the strategies, methods and approaches, borrowed from the business sector.
The introduction of these methods in Kirovohrad in the nearest future will be one of the priorities of TORO and the Community Fund of Kirovohrad.
