Around 40 public activists decided to put an end to the negative influence of financial crisis. On February 27 they left their offices and working places in order to unite together with media, trade union and authority representatives for the protection of Kirovohrad community interests. As a result, normal schedule of the art museum was disturbed, as it was the spot where the conference "Consolidation of actions of CSOs of Kirovohrad region: recipes from the crisis" took place. Community activists of the region made a first joint step towards overcoming crisis at this conference.
It is hard to find an organization today, which hasn't yet felt the symptoms of the economic crisis. One can read about its result not only in newspapers, but also one can hear about them in every second Ukrainian family. One of the reasons, which makes the negative impact of the crisis even tougher, is the old national tradition - ‘self-treatment'. This opinion was supported by the majority of the participants of the Conference. Today, almost every NGO of Kirovohrad region fights crisis by itself. Taking this into consideration, TORO offered a more effective way of opposing crisis - TO UNITE! Therefore, TORO initiated conducting of the regional conference of non-governmental organizations, having invited to the dialogue public activists not only from the city, but also from the districts of the region.
During the event the participants lively discussed the situation, which appeared in the third sector of the region. There was no need to persuade anybody in the reasonability of uniting. Almost all the present supported coalitional forms of cooperation and expressed their wish to try to unite. In the opinion of the participants of the conference that's the main recipe of overcoming financial-economic crisis.
One of the results of discussion and general work of the conference was the decision to initiate creation of the coalition of NGOs of Kirovohrad region. The activists have already started work on the project of coalition document.
Therefore, we can claim that the first decisive step towards overcoming crisis has been made in Kirovohrad - to unite organizations of civil society of the region and to consolidate their actions in defending community interests.
P.S. It should be pointed out that as TORO already has experience of work in coalitions, which is coordination of national coalition on conducting public monitoring over entrance campaign in 2008, organization experience became the foundation for the creation of negotiation space for the future coalition members.
