The President adopted the long-term plan for fighting against bribery and organized crime

The Head of the State adopted the national anti-corruption strategy and the concept of state policy in the sphere of fighting against organized crime. They, in particular, will delimit the functions of the controlling and regulatory authorities, improve the training and labor conditions of employees of special divisions to fight against organized crime. According to the members of Anti-Corruption Committee under the president consider that, the state does not have the resources to fulfill all these tasks.

The event of the year in public procurement sphere will take place on October 27, 2011 (Thursday) at 17.00 in the book café "Babuin" (Kyiv, Symon Petlyura Street, 10).

The Civic Alliance "For the Integrity of Public Procurement" is presenting to the broad community the exhibition of caricatures related to Ukrainian tenders.

Everybody says that public procurement is corrupt; however nobody can remember specific cases or name people involved in abuses. Civic organizations want to control tenders, but they don’t know how. Ukrainian citizens are ready to report cases of abuses in tenders, but they don’t know who to report to. Business wants transparency in procurement, but it doesn’t know what to do for this aim. Each year, approximately $7.5 billion is inefficiently spent in the Ukraine due to the drawbacks of the public procurement sys-tem and the lack of an independent system of control of the course of tenders. Moreover, the situation could be further dete-riorated by the adoption of bill 7532 introduced at the end of 2010, whose amendments would decrease the transparency of public procurement. However, the Ukrainian civil society decid-ed not to stand back.

Every year from 40 to 60 billion UAH of public funds is plundered in Ukraine in the course of tenders. If the issue of abuses was at least 50% solved, a number of social problems in our country could be put to an end. Experts believe that the state is paying such a high price due to the lack of public procurement development Strategy in Ukraine. Since public procurement is directly relevant to all spheres of life, there is a desperate need for a modern, transparent and professional procurement system. Representatives of expert and international organizations, relevant government bodies and businesses stressed upon this fact during the public discussion of approaches to Strategy development, organized by the Alliance Secretariat «For the Integrity of Public Procurement» together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

For business representatives the subject of the public procurement has always been and remains relevant. Because its representatives directly confront with corruption, unfair competition, abuse in tenders. What should business expect from changes in the tender legislation? What keys are its corruption risks? What should be done to minimize corruption in the public procurement? Answers these questions were given during informational meeting hosted by Ukrainian Civic Alliance «For the integrity of public procurement» for business circles in Ukraine.

28 September 2011, Madrid/Halifax - On International Right to Know Day, two leading human rights organisations, Access Info Europe (Spain) and the Centre for Law and Democracy (Canada), are launching the first detailed analysis of the legal framework for the right to information (RTI) in 89 countries around the world.

The implementation of the land market will stimulate the bribability of the officials in this field, consider the representatives of international organization against corruption, "Transparency International". The organization believes that the possibility to realize the land will lead to the regular land redistribution between the agriholdings. According to "Transparency International", the scale of corruption in the land sphere is a billion dollars annually. Before the crisis, the corruption reached 3-5 billions a year. With the introduction of the law “On Land Market” the amount of illegal transactions may grow to another billion of dollars.
