In Lviv, on the 8th of June, the representatives of the Consortium composed of non-governmental organizations of Ukraine, as well as the representatives of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the members of the Office of Government Commissioner for anti-corruption policies discussed the Anti-corruption strategy. In particular, during the discussion the matters of an anti-corruption legislation and the role of civil society in this process were considered. The event was supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
The new Ukrainian anti-corruption legislation, which will come into force on the 1st of January 2011, provides for the development and adoption of the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Strategy. As told by the organizers, the civil society and the international community, feeling responsible for Ukraine's ability to prevent successfully corruption, have joined the process of elaborating the strategy as a road map for successful anti-corruption reforms.
For this, the four analysis centers (Creative Union "TORO", Center for Political and Legal Reforms, Laboratory for Legislative Initiatives, and the Ukrainian Independent Center for Political Studies) established a consortium of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations in support of the Anti-Corruption Strategy of Ukraine. The consortium is developing a public version of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.
Therefore, in Donetsk, Odesa, Lviv and Kiev, the Consortium launched a public discussion of the content of the anti-corruption strategy. Following these discussions, the final draft of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy will be prepared and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers and to the President.
A representative of the Government Commissioner Office for anti-corruption policies also attended the discussion titled "National Anti-Corruption Strategy - from strategy to tactics".
