Transparency International: it is time to begin anticorruption reforms in football

The organization which headed the global struggle against corruption all over the world is Transparency International. It urges Ukraine to speak against corruption openly and support the reforms in the sphere of football.

Transparency International urges Ukrainian Football Federation to support anticorruption reforms into the international football.

And support the recommendations for FIFA which are formed by Transparecy. An open list of such content was sent to UFF president Hrygoriy Surkis. The activists of international movement, which supports transparency and accountability in all the spheres including sport, hope that football Ukrainian officials will support all the recommendations and are able to start reforms.  

The decision about reforms beginning can be approved only by the executive FIFA committee, explained DW the representative of Transparency the president Oleksii Khmara. It is formed in its turn out of national agencies including FIFA. Oleksii Khmara says "We hope that Ukraine which is observed by the whole world because of Euro 2012 will become the first country which is going to support anticorruption football reforms".

Power terms limitation, incomes publication

Transparency International has prepared a report, which is directed on conducting of open discussion about the principals of effective sport management. Ukraine is one of the most countries which publicized it. The presidents of all the federations are proposed to sign the following: power terms limitation for certain leading posts; incomes publication; amendments to moral code and functions of FIFA moral commission.

Oleksii Khmara says that the most effective model was to decree successful administrative decisions into the business companies. So, such business principals where should be less lobbyism and more transparency were adopted for FIFA by Transparecy International.  Khmara is convinced that we should support the reforms. "There is a scandal over scandal: constant prize rising of "Olimpiis'kyi"stadium, the selection of host-cities, when Odessa accused  UEFA in corruption, funds spending for Euro 2012"

Hope for support from the side of UFF

In the last months the reputation of FIFA suffers from accusations in corruption. Experts say that such scandals are threat for football prestige, which always have been giving people all over the world positive changes. Suspicions in abusive acts undermine reputation of the international football and the idea of conducting the final part of the European championship in Ukraine.
